EasyJet signs conditional LOI for Air Berlin A320

EasyJet has signed a conditional letter of intent to lease an Air Berlin Airbus A320 from Avation.

Avation says the term sheet for the new lease is subject to customary conditions and the formal completion of EasyJet's partial purchase of Air Berlin.

"We are pleased to have entered into a conditional term sheet with EasyJet for a new lease of the Airbus A320 providing for the smooth transition of the aircraft," says Avation executive chairman Jeff Chatfield, adding that the firm does not expect any financial impairment or material loss nor gain from the transition of the aircraft.

Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that the A320, MSN4033, was built in 2009 and delivered to Air Berlin the same year. The aircraft was operated by Belair between 2009 and 2016, before returning to Air Berlin this June.

EasyJet has said that it will pay €40 million (USD 46.4 million) to acquire part of Air Berlin's operations at Berlin Tegel airport. The carrier filed for insolvency in August.

The deal, expected to close in December, will also see EasyJetentering leases for "up to 25 Airbus A320 aircraft".
