Chinese regulator penalises Emirates for safety incidents
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has finedEmiratesCNY29,000 (USD 4,266) and banned it from adding new routes and frequencies into China for six months, due to two recent safety incidents in the Urumqi region.

The regulator disclosed that anEmiratesaircraft flew at the wrong altitude in the Urumqi region on 17 April, resulting in flight conflict. The "serious incident" was a result of the flight crew mistaking air traffic control instructions.

In another incident on 18 May, anEmiratesaircraft lost contact with air traffic control due to its radio communication being cut off. Early investigations have pointed to crew error.
The CAAC says it has made specific safety recommendations toEmirates, and the airline has shared how it is handling the cases internally, as well as the measures it will take to enhance safety.
