Hong Kong lessor China Aircraft Leasing Group (CALC) has placed its first order with Boeing for 50 737 Max aircraft.

The lessor says the deal is valued at USD 5.8 billion at list prices, with the aircraft scheduled for delivery in stages up to 2023.

No breakdown of variants was given, but it is likely the lessor will mostly take 737 Max 8s.
"We are delighted to announce this new engagement with Boeing," says CALC chief executive Mike Poon. "This large order of one of the newest and most popular aircraft will support the acceleration of CALC's business expansion."
With the Boeing order, CALC now has an outstanding orderbook of 139 aircraft, including 89 Airbus A320 family jets. It also has an existing fleet of 87 aircraft in its portfolio.
